DANI

3/16/08: This pretty girl is Dani. She was left at a boarding facility and not picked up by her family. How sad is that. Dani is a stocky girl, around 45 lbs. She's very sweet and loves everybody and hasn't met a dog she doesn't love to play with. Dani is named for her caretaker at the boarding facility.

Dani suffers from heartworm disease. We will be treating her, so she won't be available for adoption for about six weeks. Please check back to see how she's progressing.

Dani and Kathy

6/13/08: Dani is in her new home in Montgomery AL. Kathy picked her up from her foster mom, Celia, yesterday. Her new sister is Synda. Remember her? She's one of ours, too. Dani also has two Dachshund playmates. It was really hard for Celia to let her go, but she knows that Dani is in a great home. Thanks, Kathy, for giving these two great dogs a very special home.

9/23/08: Hi Cindy, Haven’t emailed you in a while and thought I would check in. The girls are both fine and they are such a joy to be around. Dani has finally settled in and gotten comfortable. She jumps up in my lap every evening and stays there unless I have to get on the computer. Even lets me hug and love on her now without tensing up. Of course, that love bug Synda, wants to be hugged and loved on all the time. It looks like you are adopting out all of your dogs – not that many left. Yea! Celia suggested I ask you what I could give Dani for her allergies. I’ve taken her to the vet 4 times this summer and she still sounds so snotty when she breathes and one eye runs. The vet gave her a couple of shots the first 2 times I saw him and that worked for about 3-4 weeks. The last visit – no shot, but an antihistamine that didn’t work. I also tried giving her benedryl twice a day and it was slightly helpful. Is there anything you have used that has actually worked? Celia said the 3 of you were going to Kentucky – that should be fun. Take care. Kathy

We require that a home visit by a volunteer be done prior to adoption. The purpose of the home visit is to ensure that the information given during the adoption process is correct and that the home is the right match for the dog being adopted. The home visit also gives adopters a chance to ask questions about the adoption process.

The adoption fee for Dani is $225, which helps to offset the cost of her medical care.

If you have trouble filling out our application, please let us know and we will be happy to provide you with an application via email or "snail" mail.
