3/14/08: This little girl is Buffy. She came from a shelter in Georgia just yesterday. We don't know much about her yet except that she's an absolute sweetheart and loves giving hugs. We do know that she has sarcoptic mange, so we're treating that. Buffy is a cream brushcoat. She has quite a bit of hair loss right now, but we know she will be gorgeous when her hair grows back.
3/24/08: Can you just see the personality oozing out of this little girl? She is so bubbly and full of herself, but she is so well behaved. She loves her crate (actually it's a condo) and that's good because she's in isolation because she has kennel cough. She's getting better and better each day so soon she'll be able to run and play with the other dogs.
6/9/08: Little Miss Buffy is still waiting for her perfect home. She's thinking she's been here long enough sharing space with so many other peibies. Are you the right family for Buffy?
9/24/08: Buffy seems to be afraid of some men and reacts by barking and growling. Once she is introduced and has had a chance to get to know the person, she's fine; and she's very smart. She'll remember that man if she sees him again. This problem will take some special attention by Buffy's new family.
11/19/08: We placed Buffy in a home in Virginia and unfortunately it didn't work out. She had a hard time adjusting and reacted by going after their dog a couple times. She also snapped at their young son when he bumped into her while she was sleeping. For this reason, Buffy will have to go into a childless and possibly dogless home. It's really too bad because Buffy is a very sweet girl. Here she played with our dogs and our grandchildren are around a lot and we never had a problem. I guess the move was just too much for her.
If you would like to adopt a very, very loving dog (she'll be a lap dog if you let her), and don't have children or another dog, Buffy might be a good fit for you. Who knows what her previous life was like, but with the right person, she can have a bright future.
It's hard to understand why Buffy doesn't understand that she shouldn't be mean to other dogs. I think it's because she doesn't want to share her toys. Click to see her and Woody playing. Click here to see Buffy playing with her stuffed toy that she loves so much.
Buffy checking out her new home
4/4/09: Well, we think we got it right this time. Buffy is in her new home in Kankakee IL with her new mom, Pam. It's just the two of them so we think this is exactly what Buffy needs. It was love at first sight for Pam and I think for Buffy, too. It was very emotional to leave Buffy because we've had her so long and loved her like one of our own; but we know she will be loved more than life with Pam. Way to go, Buff!!
4/6/09: So onto Little MIss Buffy.
Other than her ear she had a really good day. A little more comfortable
with Jim and the office manager Scott came up to see her after
he had seen her outside. He followed the rules and she was ok
with him for the most part. He loved how she gave me hugs. Scott
told her not to worry he will take his time to be her friend.
That he will be nice to her even if she is not nice to him that
he knows she needs time to adjust. Told her when she is ready
he will take her out for a run. Scott is one of the biggest dog
lovers and understanding of them I have ever met. He is also very
very patient with them.
4/7/09: Hi Cindy Buffy's ear looks
great this morning. She has been busy playing and I have had her
outside and she was enjoying running in the field. She comes to
me for lots of hugs and massages and leans into me then for a
kiss. Last night she spent sometime on my bed but still was not
sure about sleeping in the bedroom so she was pacing back and
forth for a little while. She's a pro in the elevator and does
not seem to mind when others get on with us. I tell them not to
touch her tho and have her right next to me so that can't reach
her. But most listen and that is what counts. Hppe things are
going well for you. Pam 4/10/09: Hi Cindy Hard to believe that it was only last Saturday that Buffy arrived. She is really settling in good and such a joy to have. Her seems to be thicken up a bit and oh it is just so soft. She is really enjoying our walks and has the elevators mastered now. Finally yesterday the big one was repaired and she likes that one better and is even willing to wait for that one. She plays real hard and sometimes wears herself out. Her appetite is good. She knows that there is more and seems to nibble a little in the morning and then have more later. She does not like it when I leave as she wants to go with me but I always promise her I will be back. She greets me at the door with the tail wagging away. I am just so happy with her I can not describe it. We would like to wish you and GAlon a very Happy Easter. Hugs Buffy and Pam
4/11/09: Hi Cindy. Buffy had a really good day and while I was doing the dishes she shook her favorite toy so hard that a seam ripped and stuffing started flying. I have sewn it up for her even tho she did not like waiting for me to finish. But as soon as I was she went back to playing with it and shaking it. She is just so funny and lovable. Pam
4/15/09: Hi Cindy Buffy has had
quite a day. Been very busy outside and meeting people on her
terms such as walking up to them sniffing them and putting her
nose into their hand or just jumping up on them. Also playing
with one of the kids that came to visit their grandma. Oh she
was gentle with her but just so happy for the little girl to give her hugs and pets. WEll
the big one happened as well. She sat on my lap. Not front paws
on me lap jumped up on my bed when I was getting on here and plunked
her butt on my lap wanting pets and to look out the window. She is
a real character. I do not see how anyone could give her up or
bring her back. Her hair is getting thicker well. She plays hard
and just really seems happy. Cindy I can not tell you how much I love her. She is just
fantastic. So I see Gretchen will be getting her forever home
soon. I am happy for her and hope that I see some more of the
kids finding homes soon now that spring is here. Joyce is getting
so excited about coming. She can't wait to meet Buffy.
3/25/09: Hi Cindy Hard to believe
it was 3 weeks ago today that Buffy arrived. We have become so
close. Sometimes I feel like she has been here so much longer
because we seem to know each others moods and what the other is
thinking. We have been very lucky as storms were predicted for
today but other than 1 shower that is all we have gotten. More are on the way
tho but for Buffy's sake I hope no lightening is involved. WE
were able to take a long walk as it is 80 here but very windy.
I think Buffy prefers it a little cooler but she loves to go outside and play and take walks.
She met a couple of the other kids that come here on the weekends
and greeted them pleasantly and then she saw they had brought
her a treat.
