10/15/09: This cute little girl came to us by way of an East Tennessee shelter. She's a petite little girl, weighing only 34.5 lbs. but she needs to gain a few to get to her optimum weight. She's an excellent eater, so she'll gain weight quickly, we're sure. Gypsy is between 3-4 years old. She is a cream horsecoat, spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She has very big, bright, brown eyes.
Gypsy is very well behaved. She sleeps on the foot of the bed every night and never makes a peep unless she hears something that makes her think somebody is trying to come in. :) It's fairly obvious that she hasn't been taught to play with other dogs, but she's certainly learning that here. She gets along great with our males and females and she LOVES our young granddaughters!

12/29/09: Gypsy is in her new home in Georgia tonight with Scott and Julia. I can tell you that Gypsy took to them immediately. You see, she's a hand chewer; she wouldn't leave their hands alone - a sure sign of affection. I promised them she would stop doing that soon. :) Gypsy will have a wonderful life with her new family. Already she's making friends with their Boxer. Gyp was so excited that it was hard to get good pictures. More will come later, Scott promised.

1/6/10: Just wanted to let you know that Gypsy is doing great! Our cats have adjusted to her and they will come up to her and rub against her legs. She is adjusting well to our work schedule and she gives us lots of kisses when we come home in the afternoon. I am planning to take her to the vet soon and have more X-rays taken of her front leg. She is definitely limping more when I take her for her walks but I think this is due to the cold weather. My boxer has a problem with his rear leg and he is also limping more since the temperature dropped. I will send more updates later. Scott

1/25/2010: Gypsy is doing great. She has really adjusted to our lives and schedule. She is still a "licker" and now gives all of our cats a good bath with her tongue. The cats, for the most part, tolerate it for a little while and then run off from her. We had a little excitement last weekend. Gypsy bolted out the front door when Julia opened it and she had a nice little romp in the woods around the house. She never really got very far from the house but would not come directly to us when we called her. She would come up about 10 feet away and then run away from us. She was having a grand old time but it did get frustrating and I am thinking about taking her to an obedience school so as not to have a repeat performance. Julia certainly learned a lesson about watching Gypsy when the front door is open. Gypsy also has the typical sharpei aversion to water. She hates taking walks when it is raining and she is not very happy about bath time either. She doesn't struggle when I am giving her a bath but it is very obvious from her attitude that she does not like it. She will get very aloof with me for about an hour after I give her a bath. Gypsy has also adjusted to our other dogs. The only problem is with Sam, my black lab mix. Sam is the alpha dog of our pets and Gypsy is still adjusting to this. When I have them together both of them basically ignore each other. With my other two dogs, Gypsy loves to frolic with them although she is still learning how to play with them. Occasionally she will get too aggressive and I have to calm her down. However, she is improving every day in this. Again, Julia and I want to thank you for the great job you are doing and introducing Gypsy into our lives. She is an absolute doll! Scott
