Sunny (formerly Maggie Mae)

7/26/09: Maggie is a 6-8 month old black horsecoat female. She loves to play and knows some basic commands. Maggie is very affectionate and obedient. She is also house and crate trained.

Maggie was covered with ticks when she was turned in to the shelter, but they're all gone and she's a healthy girl. She was very good for the workers as they took them off of her one by one. Maggie has had all of her shots and is on heartworm preventative. She will be spayed next week and shortly thereafter will be available for adoption.

Maggie will make a wonderful companion for the people in her forever home.

8/20/09: This girl is having the time of her life staying for a few days with Mary and her Westies. Watch this video and you'll see what I mean. Click here. This one is hilarious!

11/22/09: This sweet girl is in her new home in Missouri. It was love at first sight for Leslie and for Maggie. We'll have pictures soon. Here's a note from her new mom: Maggie is beautiful! But of course you knew that! She was so good on the 3 1/2 hour drive home from St. Louis, I sat in the back seat with her & we had made a bed out of the other half of the back seat. I brought her a new toy, a stuffed squeeky puppy, and she played with that and chewed her nyla bone.

I have decided that I will need to change her name as one of my Mom's Irish Terriers names is Meggie! She will be playing with her eventually also & I think that will be confusing, and my other dog is confused as to why we call her by that name as he pictures his "other Meggie". So I have decided to call her "Sunny" as she is the sunshine after the rain of losing my 15 year old Chaos Shar Pei / lab mix. I have been talking to her and using "Sunny" alot and she is already picking up on that it is her name too!

Sunny & my Shar Pei / lab / Terrier mix "Dylan" get along very well, he is almost 8 years old and when they play in the yard she runs so fast that he cannot catch her, she thinks this is really fun! She is also learning to play with the "Puggle" who stays at my house during the day when her Mom, my best friend Karla goes to work. Her name is Jasmine, and they love to play together. But Sunny gets a bit too rough for Jazzie as she is much smaller, and we are working on that. On Monday when I went to work, Karla stayed all day with the dogs, and today my Mom is staying there. Tomorrow I am going to try taking Sunny to work with me, as my boss doesn't mind and he loves dogs also. I am usually the only one at my office except for the boss's son Justin who brings his female bulldog to work every day with him. She is much smaller than Sunny also, but she won't be here tomorrow when I bring Sunny. We also have a doggie toybox full of toys and Sunny gets them all out to play with one by one until the box is empty! Leslie

4/20/10 Hi Cindy!

I've been pretty busy but I thought I would send you and update on Sunny.  Sunny is still dragging everything from the house that she can get through the doggie door every day, just to entertain me I guess, when I get home from work I have to pick up the yard.  She has become the dog every other dog wants to play with, because now she also has a special purpose!  I recently adopted a 9-week old female Black Lab/Black & Tan Coon Hound cross!  Sunny underwent an amazing change!  She grew up somewhat because she decided that she must be the new "nanny dog" for Ally, the new puppy.  She babysits her and plays with her and watches over her non-stop. It is amazing how gentle she is with the puppy. I am trying to get some pictures with just her and the puppy playing,  but I am including some pictures of all of them here.

I think I now have enough dogs in the house with 3 of my own and still being doggie daycare to my friends puggle Jasmine. It can be quite entertaining at times!

Leslie.
