Li Li

(LAURA)

9/22/08: Laura was dumped in a park in Gwinnett County, a suburb of Atlanta.

How anyone could dump her is beyond imagination. She and Luke, the Pei found with her, are both little dynamos, loving to run and play.  They like to be held and loved.  Laura gets along with other dogs.

Laura is up to date on her shots and on heartworm preventative. She is about 12 months old.  Laura is being spayed and having her eyes fixed today. Laura will be ready for adoption soon after she's had a few days to recover and have her stitches removed.

10/12/08: Laura is really thriving! She's ready for her new home!

Laura is a playful little girl and she's learning not to jump. She loves playing with other dogs, especially the 150 lb. Presa that her foster parents have. She delights in running through his legs - never touching her back to his belly- to steal his toys!

11/9/08: We knew it was meant to be - Laura and Lauren. They met yesterday for the first time. Today Laura is in her new home with Lauren. She also has a Pei sister, Chen, and two brothers, Eddie and Hermie. To our surprise Laura was really taken with Lauren's cats. She really likes them! Thanks, Lauren, for giving Laura a second chance at the good life!

How sweet is that?

Dear Cindy,
I am calling Laura "Li Li". She doesn't seem to mind. She is just wonderful. She slept on a pallet on the floor at the foot of my bed last night. Chen isn't letting her on the bed with us yet but I think soon they will be inseparable. It took a little while for her to settle down but once she fell asleep she was out for the night. She and Chen have been playing in the yard most of the day. I love her already. I think she is going to be happy with us. She still has not eaten much of her dog food but she has no problem eating snacks. I will try to get a good picture to you soon and your tag. Thank you so much for saving these priceless babies and for adding this sweet girl to my family. Sincerely, Lauren

12/21/08: Dear Cindy,
Hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving. Thank you for the adorable Christmas card. Chen's eyes are looking much better. She still has some redness by the end of the day but I think she is still healing. I am planning to schedule Li Li for her surgery in the beginning of January. Li Li is doing great. She and Chen are best friends and even the boys seem to secretly like her. She is just irresistible. Li Li and Chen went with me to my parents' house for Thanksgiving. They had a great time. Li got to meet my brother, sister and my grandma. They all loved her. She adapted really well to the new environment and had a great time. No one could believe that anyone could abandon such a fabulous baby.

I noticed that Luke might have a new home. Whenever he is adopted would it be possible for me to contact his new parents? I would love to get updates on him and if he is nearby maybe play dates could be arranged. I really wanted to adopt him too.

Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas. Lauren del Valle

Isn't she beautiful?

1/12/09: Dear Cindy, Li Li is doing great. She had her entropion surgery last week. She is recovering extremely well. I actually called the vet the day after her surgery to see if she needed to be sedated while her eyes were healing because she was running around and playing as rough as she usually does. They said it was fine as long as the E collar is on. Her eyes really look great. I will send a picture when she is all healed up. I am taking Chen tomorrow to have her blood drawn and sent off for allergy testing. Sincerely,
Lauren
