Lola came to us from the shelter in Kingsport, but she has been in an adoptive home since January 2005. She is being returned to rescue because her owner is going back to school and cannot take Lola with her.
Lola is an apricot dilute horsecoat and is 3 years old. She's house trained and crate trained. She's current on vaccinations, on heartworm prevention and has been spayed. She has BEAUTIFUL amber eyes.
Lola loves to go for walks - even in the rain, snow or heat - and it's really paid off. She didn't need ANY arthritis or pain medicine this past year, and her limp is barely noticeable. Lola had knee surgery before being placed and after being placed we discovered that she also has hip dysplasia. She has the occasional ear and skin irritations, but that can be kept that under control with diet and medicated shampoo. We know Lola isn't going to understand why she's being removed from her familiar surroundings, so we'd like to find her another home as soon as possible. If you have a soft spot for a sweet little girl, Lola might be the answer!
5/29/07: This pretty girl is in her new home in Murfreesboro. Even as shy as she is, Lola was really taken by Krystal. I was surprised and elated at how comfortable Lola was with Krystal and her new surroundings. Thank you, Krystal, for giving Lola a second chance. 6/7/07: Just to update you. We have made it through night two. She is doing great. She is being accepting of all the dogs here and has made friends actually with Rocky. Jon and I took her walking with Tara last night and they seemed to be ok and enjoyed it. When it came to bed time, I placed her back in her room an built the pillows up and I guess she wasn't ready to go to bed. She busted through the pillows and got upset when I put her back in there. She has became so playful and Jon and I are growing to love her so much. She has became one of the best animals I have ever had.
6/11/07: Lola is doing great. She has made friends with Rocky (which shocked me) I kinda feel bad that he will be leaving soon and she will be losing that friend. She loves running and playing with him and she shares her toys with him. She will sometimes though get upset when he takes it upon himself to go to her bedroom and get her toys. She will then take it upon herself to take them back and when he gives her lip she shows him she is the boss. She has also made friends with Tara but we had a problem at first. I think Tara wasn't reacting well with another female in her territory but we fixed that problem quick. She and Tara are still somewhat getting used to each other. Over time thought I think it will get better. Tara takes up for her though when the other dogs are around so that is a good thing. Lola has been happy though. She loves being outside. We can never get her to come in till it is dark. I have to go out there and pick her up if I want to bring her in. She is hyper active too. She reminds me and my roommates of a rabbit. She hops up and down all the time when she gets excited and happy. She also has been really lovable to me and Jon. She is also a awesome fly catcher. She is fascinated with them. We do not know why. My parents saw her for the first time the other day when we took a car ride to their house. She loved the ride and was great all the way there. They think she is adorable and my stepdad made friends with her quickly. Lola has made a great addition to our family and a great companion for me. I love her to death. -Krystal 6/22/07: Lola is doing great still, she is still bring lots of joy to us. She has taken up this bouncing thing when she wants something though. I guess she has learned that from Tara. Tara likes to growl and bounce at the same time when she wants something and I guess she observed her and did the same. She does it every morning when I first get up. She bounces in front of her water bowl meaning I want water. I will give her water and about 10 to 15 mins later after I am semi awake she will start pulling at her leash and bouncing with that till she goes for her morning walk. She has also taken a liking to a new toy I bought her. She carries it everywhere. She even takes it outside with her when she goes to the back yard in the afternoons and will bring it in when she comes in. I still haven't figured that one out. We also ave discovered the tractor supply store and their section for dogs. Lola now walks around with this bright green John Deer bandana and Tara has one that says Harley Davidson. Tara didn't really like her and learned after a few days how to shake it off her neck, but Lola doesn't seem to mind it at all and hasn't tried to remove it yet from her neck. I will send a picture soon of her bandana on. Also Jon has taught her the command lay and shake. She is still a little shaky with the word shake but Jon keeps on demonstrating the meaning with Tara since she knows the command and then he turns around and does it with her... The only problem we have been having with her is bath time. She doesn't like baths at all. So I guess I am going to look for that product or get a wet baby wipe or wash cloth to wash the dirt off of her. Well thanks again. -Krystal 9/22/07: How are you, I hope well. Lola is still doing wonderful. She is more active than ever and she loves to play tug a war with toys and getting her belly rubbed. She has been a great joy to all of us. Also she is still taking her medicine...and seems to have no problems.. She is doing wonderful and has became one of my children...She makes me feel like she is human.
